Blue whales - report writing

  Blue whales - information report

We are lucky to live with the largest mammal to ever have lived, the blue whale. Though they once nearly became extinct. For an animal this big what would they eat?

The blue whale is known for its size. It is the largest animal on the planet. Have you seen an elephant? A blue whale weighs up to approximately 33 elephants. That is 181436.948 kg WOW! Think of the size of an adult man, now times that by 1000 and there you have a blue whale. Blue whales are huge creatures. How could they become endangered?

Blue whales are endangered.  They have a population of 25,000 but it is thankfully not currently decreasing. Blue whales became endangered by humans from our past and current acts. Whaling started around the 11th century. It peaked in between 1846-1852. The U.S stopped whaling in 1970. At that point blue whales were nearly extinct. Nowadays the problem for blue whales and other whales is fishing nets and plastic in the ocean. About 300,000 whales, dolphins and porpoises die each year because of fishing gear. Over the past 10 years 57 whales have died from plastic. This gets into their body when they are eating.

What do you think blue whales eat? How would they eat? Blue whales eat krill. The biggest blue whales can eat up to 6 tons of krill in 1 day. Lots of sea water gets in their mouths when they are eating. They have this sort of sive in their mouth to get rid of the water. It is funny how the biggest creature on earth would eat such a small creature.

The blue whale is huge, the biggest creature on the planet, It is endangered with only 25,000 left in the world and a krill eating mammal.
