Summer Learning Journey Week 2 Day 5

  1. Hi Molly

I would have to agree with you about the over fishing. I think that we don't want the fish to be extinct like some of our animals so I think the law should stay. As for the fine, you are kind wanting to lower it. But I think leave it really high so that it really does discourage people from breaking the law. I am sure that if they were going to be fined a massive amount of money it will stop them. And that is what we want!

You have chosen two quite big local rivers for this task. I always knew about the Grey River, but with the council building the new treatment station hopefully this will lessen the raw sewage that was put straight into the river. I didn't realise that the Ngakawau river was so polluted but then with the coal mine right there I am not surprised. Hopefully they can do something about this. It would be great to be able to swim in all West Coast rivers.

I like the idea of having a tryathlon to raise money for the Great Barrier Reef. Something big like this would attract a lot of people and would not only be good for them but would raise a good amount of money too.
You could you the cycle trail for the biking section which would also be good for the West Coast.
Great ideas Molly, good to see that you have put a good deal of thought into it.

    Keep up the great work

    Until next time

    Allie :)

    1. Hi Allie

I didn't think about swimming in the rivers but it would be heaps of fun, especially not having to swim in a polluted areas.

Yes we could use the cycle trail.

      Tschüss (bye)
      Molly
