Step it up

I am going to do my maths so that each square is 1 centimetre by 1 centimetre. This art is 11 by 11 so the area of the whole art work is 121cm2.

The green rectangle at the top left has 3 squares so the fraction of that is 3/121. The area is just 3cm2.

The blue rectangle beside the green has a fraction of 2/121. The area is 2cm2.

The fraction of the orange square is 9/121. The area is 9cm2.

Moving on to the red square the area is 36cm2 and the fraction is 36/121.

The yellow square's area is 4cm2 and the fraction is 4/121.

The last shape the pink rectangles area is 4cm2 and the fraction is 4/121.

  1. Kia Ora Molly,

Ka pai you for doing the “kick starter” and the “Step it up” activities for the mondrian activity. Fractions used to be my weakness in school but after many practices and help from my teacher I managed to understand it a bit more. What is your favorite subject in school?

I see you have been keeping busy over these summer holidays doing heaps of the Summer Learning Journey activities, Tauke! What has been your favorite activity so far?

    Ngā mihi,

My favourite subject is maths. What was yours?

I have done so many I am not sure exactly what has been my favourite but I liked the origami one. What has been your favourite?

    2. Kia Ora Molly, maths is a pretty cool subject because it is challenging and rewarding at the same time. My favorite subject is actually physical education, P.E because i like moving my body and pushing it to the limits as well as working in a team setting.

My favorite activity has probably been the optical ilusion one, I've seen some bloggers come up with pretty cool illusions using google draw and their own photography. It is mind blowing.

I hope you are having a great day e hoa!

P.E is fun, do you still do PE maybe as workouts or going to the gym?

The Illusion one was cool. I liked that activity and learnt how to draw and impossible triangle.I saw this optical illusion the other day where someone was doing a handstand on a wall behind someone and it looked like they were doing it on there head.

I hope you have a great day also,

    4. Mōrena Molly, I do crossfit, boxing and swimming as often as I can to keep me physically healthy and mentally fit.
Whoa that sounds like a cool illusion, I can imagine that one in my head haha. It is so awesome to see people using their imaginations on their blogs.

  2. Kia ora Molly!
I'm Kylah from St Marys school.
This is a super tricky activity working out the area! Well done! I really like the bright colours you have used in your art work.
What would you do differently next time?

I am not sure what I should do differently next time. What do you think I could improve on?
