Summer Learning Journey Week 3 Day 3

  1. Hi Molly,

    Me again! :)

Fantails are beautiful little birds, aren't they? I don't see very many of them here in Auckland but up north (where I'm from) they're everywhere! I love seeing them flit around the garden at my mum and dad's house. Do you see many around where you live? Did you know that, in Māori culture, fantails flying inside the house is a bad omen? I love how certain animals mean different things in different cultures.

I'd choose the ability to fly too! Mostly because I'd really like to be able to travel the world without having to book flights. But being able to figure out where you are would be super handy as well (I'm terrible with directions).

Wow! I didn't realise flying foxes were animals! I've only ever thought of them as a part of a playground! Haha. Have you ever seen one in real life? Every time I've been in Australia, I've see what I thought were bats flying around at sunset - perhaps they were actually flying foxes!

Congratulations on completing another wonderful Google Slide of activities. He whetu koe! (You're a star!) :)

    Blog ya later!

    Mikey :)

  2. Hi Mikey

Yes I see a few fantails where I live, you can see them when you are sitting on the deck. I had no idea that fantails that flew into your house was a bad omen. Talking about bad omens the bat is bad luck omen especially if they cry.

Flying foxes are an animal, I didn't know about them until I did the activity.

    bye
    Molly

    1. Mōrena Molly,

You're very lucky. Are there lots of trees and bushes around your house for them to play in? Wow, I didn't know that bats were bad omens. It looks like we've both taught each other something new. :)

Have a lovely day Molly. Keep up the great blogging!

      Mikey :)
