For this activity we made a kowhaiwhai. I learnt something because I had never heard
of a kowhaiwhai before. We got given a simple koru/fern and could rotate it to make a
pattern which is basically a kowhaiwhai. When you go in a marae on the roof you
should see kowhawhai.
Kia Ora Molly,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Zana and I am a blog commenter from the Summer Learning Journey.
I thought this activity was very interesting as it teaches you about Tānerore who you are able to see often on these hot summer days and about the infamous kowhaiwhai pattern seen throughout Māori culture. Have you seen the kowhaiwhai pattern before maybe at a marae or museum?
For your start up you did a great job just learning the patterns and figuring out how to resize and flip them and adding color to the background.
Keep up the great work and I hope to see more of your posts over the summer.
Ngā mihi nui,
Zana Yates
