Origami Butterfly

For the SLJ today I did an easy Origami butterfly that you can make. I have done one of these before so it was an easy go to when I read what I had to do.

It’s Shannon again from the Summer Learning Journey.

What a beautiful video to show how to make your origami butterfly. The music in the background was awesome and made me think I was in a field of butterflies. You made it at a great pace that would be easy to follow.

Have you ever made them from textured or patterned paper? Do you think they would actually fly?

Ka pai on your amazing blog posts Molly.

    Ka kite anō,

    1. Hey Shannon

      Thanks for the comment.

I have made the from patterned paper but that was at school. I don't have any patterned paper at home just scrap paper. I have tried to see if they fly but not very well about as far as a bad paper plane.

      Thanks

      Molly :)

    2. Hi Molly,

Perhaps you could draw on your scrap paper to make it bold and colourful!

What's the best paper plane you have built so far?

      Bye for now,

    3. Hey Shannon,

Yeah drawing on the butterfly would make it colourful that would be a good idea. I haven't made a paper plane in a while but the farthest that one of mine has gone is maybe 3 meters. Have you made paper planes?

      Thanks,

    4. Hi Molly,

That would be cool! What patterns would you draw?

I've made lots of paper places, I think the furtherest mine has gone is only 2m though! What was your secret for 3m?

    5. Hey Shannon

Maybe I would draw zig zag patterns what about you?

I remember I folded over the tip so the balance was even but I don't know.

I remember in the holidays we used to go to the library and participate in the paper plane challenge that was held there in the holidays. Did you do anything like that?

  2. Hi Molly,

I'd probably draw some circle patterns! They're my favourite. I especially like drawing circles inside of circles, and staggering these to give some dimension!

That's a cool tip! I used to head to the library too, I learnt quite a bit of origami though I'm not the best for remembering it now, and I read HEAPS of books. Do you do much reading?

    Bye for now,
    Shannon (SLJ)

    1. Hey Shannon

Yes I read a lot of books. Sometimes wen I am doing the SLJ I don't have as much time to read though. Although my biggest problem would be going to the library getting the books then reading them all in less then a week.

Do you remember what you favourite origami thing to fold was?

    2. Hi Molly,

What's your favourite book to read?

That's always a problem. Sometimes they're just too good and you finish them too fast!

My favourite thing to fold would have to be a chatter box! i used to make heaps with my friends and would play with them for ages! How about you, what's your favourite origami thing to make?

      Bye for now,

    3. Hey Shannon

I don't have a favourite book but I have read a few good books. Chatter boxes are awesome. My favourite thing to create is probably the snow flake.
