UV indicator and protection

I am very sorry I am so late on this post. It is because when this activity was due it was my dads birthday and then yesterday I didn't get round to do the SLJ.

For this activity I learnt a lot about UV lights and sun protection and sun cream. My favourite part of this activity was probably designing the indicator.

I also did the step it up which is below.

  1. Kia ora Molly,

Fiona here from the SLJ. You have done an awesome job creating a UV indicator that you could use in your home - ka pai! I like the way it clearly shows the different UV levels and has a key to explain what each of the levels means.

I think this activity is so important, because many people aren't aware of how harmful UV rays can be and that we need to be so careful, especially in summer.

Great work designing all different UV protection and including a Kiwiana theme. This gear would certainly keep us sun-safe as well as looking pretty stylish!

Part of the “Step It Up” aspect of this activity was to design a second UV indicator that can be worn on a person’s body (for example in the form of a watch, or a badge or a hat).

For an example, check out Finaus blog post

If you wanted to, you could create a wearable UV indicator and add it to your blog!

Keep up the great blogging. I can't wait to see more of your work soon.

    Mā te wā,

    Fiona (SLJ).

  2. Kia ora Molly,

You have done a great job designing a very unique UV indicator that is wearable - ka pai! I really like how you thought about how the UV indicator responds in the sun and in the shade - this was very creative. I also really like how you have designed your wearable UV indicator so it is fashionable and raises awareness about protecting the dolphins. Well done!

Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing more of your posts soon!

    Mā te wā,

    Fiona (SLJ).

    1. Hey Fiona

Yeah I did have a thought about this. I got this idea from a book I read a while back but it was definitely not to protect from UV lights.

      Nga mihi nui,
      Molly :)
