West Coast santa

  1. Hello again Molly, Elle from the Summer Learning Journey here!

You have done an amazing job on your new outfit for Santa! I especially like that you’ve made him an outfit that specifically helps him when he’s delivering presents in the west coast. That is a great idea. I think it’s awesome that you’ve included why you decided to give him certain clothing, and explained that it’s based around the wet weather you experience!

I like that you’ve given him clothing that reminds me of a New Zealand summer in the colours too! Like yellow, for the sand in the beaches and the hot sun, the green for the land of Aotearoa, and blue for the ocean, or in this case, maybe the summer rain!

Great thinking with the sunglasses and sunscreen too - we can’t have Santa getting a sunburn! I have noticed that the West Coast Santa doesn’t have any shoes. Is this so he can play in the puddles along the way? Or is it to keep him cool?

Well done Molly; it is great to see how creative you are!

    Ngā mihi,
    Elle (SLJ)

    1. Tēnā koe Molly!

It is great to hear back from you. That is okay, I think not having shoes for Santa is quite a kiwi trait too! My Dad and my brothers walk barefoot all the time!

I think if I had to give Santa a pair of shoes, I would give him gumboots! I find jandals can be a bit slippery, and if he’s up on the roof getting ready to deliver presents, he might need some sturdy footwear! Although gumboots can be quite heavy, and I wouldn’t want to slow him down! There is, surprisingly, a lot to consider.

You are most welcome Molly, and keep up the fantastic blogging. I’m thoroughly enjoying getting to read your blog posts!

Ngā mihi nui and happy new year!
