I named my creation pūrerehua ataahua
meaning beautiful butterfly in Maori.
I used grass for the antenna and body,
ferns for the bottom wings and large
daisy's for the top wings. I decided to
use ferns because they are native to NZ
and I wanted my butterfly to be typically
a NZ butterfly.

This activity was really fun as there are so many creative options and opportunities to make insects out of plants.
I think pūrerehua ataahua is a beautiful and meaningful name and an even more beautiful butterfly, I love the large fern lower wings and bright daisy upper wings. The long annterners really pull it together and I think you did an amazing job.
Keep up the great work and I hope to see more of your posts over the summer.
Ngā mihi nui,
Zana Yates
