Learning Maori

For the SLJ we looked at the slide and
learnt a lot of new Maori words and how
to pronounce them. We also had to fill in
the slide. Then we had to draw a picture of
what my family and I did today. We went
swimming so I drew all of us at the pool.

  1. Kia ora Molly, this is Elle again from the Summer Learning Journey!

You have done a great job practicing your te reo Māori! It’s so important for us to practice and I am encouraging myself to learn more words in te reo everyday! Which words did you learn that you think are helpful for people to know?

I think it's awesome that you chose kaukau, swimming, as it is a great way to spend the summer! I really like the drawing that you have created, thank you for sharing it! It looks like you went to a big pool that has lanes in it - did you have any swimming races with your family? Or did you do lots of great diving instead?

    Tino kino te pai Molly!

    Ngā mihi,
    Elle (SLJ)

    1. Tena koe Elle

I think people should know the names of sports for example kaukau - swimming.

That drawing I drew is definitely not my best but it is a pool. My mum is practising her lanes, my dad is watching and me and my brother are doing bombs. Do you swim?

      Thanks,
      Molly :)
