Step it up-float a boat

So I put both boats in the water at the same time. They were both holding 5 stones when the square based boat sank.  A short time later the canoe sank.

Productive work on your step it up. What did you find most challenging about this ?

If you were to design the next step up from here, how would you do it? How do you feel like you would step this further? Maybe you would consider making a boat that withstands windy weather? Or a water repellent one?

Again, great work, looking forward to seeing more of your activities.

    Have a nice day today!

    1. Hi Benjamin

The most challenging part was making the square based boat. It wasn't that good at the end but still floated. If I were to step it up further I would probably make sure that I did a better job with the square based boat. To do this I would use paper not news paper. Making about that is water resistant and wind proof would be just as good as a normal boat. Have you thought of making a water proof boat?

    2. Kia ora Molly,

It is great that you can recognise space for improvement within the practical side of this activity. It is hands on.

I might consider making a waterproof one in the near future, and decide whether I would make the boat material waterproof or even make a cover for it that is waterproof.

      Great conversation!

Again, I hope you have a lovely day.

I think it would be a good idea to have the water proof cover. That means it would be easy to make the boat first. You could make a simple paper boat and if you have maybe an old rain jacket that doesn't fit any more you could wrap that a few times around the boat. I don't think that that will be completely water proof though.

      Yes Great conversation.

I hope you have a lovely day and have had a lovely day,
