The first 2 are the important ones. I got them to balance and then it was easy. Just leaning the others on to it. The third stone doesn't do anything it just sits there.
Fiona here from the SLJ team. Your balancing caterpillar looks so cool - ka pai! Well done for being so creative. It looks like it would have been pretty tricky to get the stones to balance like that.
I'm not sure if this counts as balancing art, but when I was a kid I used to sit for hours and try to balance playing cards on top of each other. We would have competitions in my family to see who could build the biggest card house. Have you ever done this?
Great question you have asked me! I had to put on my thinking cap to remember. I think about 5 cards high was the tallest card tower I built. How high have you been able to build with cards?
From memory, the trick was to have a really big base of cards for stability and to make two cards stand up and form a V shapes between layers!
I can't remember how high mine stacked but I do remember that we didn't just do towers but we also did stuff like who can make the best tunnel. Did you do anything like that?
Yes, I do remember trying to build little card tunnels! This is bringing back great memories... I think I will pull out the cards and have another go over the summer!
I'm Kylah from St Marys school I really like that you turned your balancing act into a caterpillar! was it tricky to stop them falling when you were balancing them? I also used river stones for mine and it was very tricky! mā te wā Kylah
Kia ora Molly,
ReplyDeleteWoah, this is so creative! Well done!
I really like how everything is leaning. Was it hard to keep it up?
I don't think I've ever even seen balancing art before but this is awesome!

DeleteYes I have done balancing with cards. Surprisingly you can stack pretty high with them. How high do you think the highest one you built was?

DeleteThat sounds like fun. If the rain carries on today I might try as well. Tell me how high you manage to stack.

DeleteMine was not too hard because I only had to balance two stones. The rest is just leaning on. What did you make for your balancing act?
Thanks for your positive comment
