Clever compass

For this activity we could chose weather to design a camping gadget or hack.

  1. Kia ora Molly,

Fiona here from the Summer Learning Journey team. What a nifty gadget you have described for campers! I think a compass that remembers which way you have been is a great idea to help people not get lost. This would have come in handy for me a few times when I've been out bush walking and forgotten which direction I've turned in!

How big do you think this compass would be and where would the batteries fit? Perhaps adding a solar powered charger to your compass would be a cool idea, so campers can use it even if the batteries go flat.

I hope to see more of your awesome blog posts throughout the week!

    1. Hey Fiona

What is the longest time you have been lost for?

I think the compass would have to be small and light enough to carry in one of your hands. I solar powered charger is a great idea. Maybe you could somehow make the compass solar powered as well so then you don't need a charger.

  2. Ata mārie Molly,

Thanks for your reply! The longest time I have been lost for is probably only about 1 hour. Good thinking making the compass light and easy to carry in your hand.

    Happy blogging this week!

I remember my family and I were lost once but that was only for about 10 minutes.

      Thanks for your reply,

      Molly
