Fort kick start

 For this activity I had to put up a tent or create a fort. I decided to create a fort.

Picnic - Step it up

 I have chosen Blueberry muffins because I just had them on my picnic and they were so good.

 It was far to wet and rainy to have a picnic so I decided to have mine indoors. My first step was to make some food for the picnic. I made some banana and blueberry muffins. Next I packed the bag, got the picnic blanket and some cushions. Next set them out and had the picnic. Below are some photos.

For this activity we had to make a pixel based on summer when I think of summer I thought of the beach but I didn't know how I would pixel that so  decided to do flowers.

This is the kick start there are also 2 stepping up activities.

Stepping up 1

As a summer theme I decided to do an apple tree going from no apples to lots of apples. This is because in the summer you start to get apples.

This is the third layer of my animation. For this animation I decorated and undecorated the Christmas tree.

I also have to right three facts I learnt about pixel.

1) There are stamps

2) There are different layers

3) On different sites you can do different things.

Step it up

 I am going to do my maths so that each square is 1 centimetre by 1 centimetre. This art is 11 by 11 so the area of the whole art work is 121cm2.

The green rectangle at the top left has 3 squares so the fraction of that is 3/121. The area is just 3cm2.

The blue rectangle beside the green has a fraction of 2/121. The area is 2cm2.

The fraction of the orange square is 9/121. The area is 9cm2.

Moving on to the red square the area is 36cm2 and the fraction is 36/121.

The yellow square's area is 4cm2 and the fraction is 4/121.

The last shape the pink rectangles area is 4cm2 and the fraction is 4/121.

Mondrian art kick start

Today I learnt how to do Mondrian art. I thought choosing which cells to merge and which cells to colour was fun. I didn't find this activity too challenging.

The sound of Summer

And then I did the Step it up where you had to create a survey to find out about peoples top songs to celebrate summer. Below is mine.

 For this activity we had to read  this article and decide weather or not it was a true article. I did have a few reasons against it but ended up pick for it.

Summer vacation ~ New Zealand

For this SLJ activity we read Summer Vacation and because there is no New Zealand page on there our task was to create a page for NZ.

I enjoyed learning about summer in other countries.

For the step it up we had to make a video of me reading my page on New Zealand Summer.

We also had to make a jam board. That will be below the video.

 I found the most challenging part of this activity was finding those people images. I thought it was fun learning a new game to play.

Step it up Summer sound

 For the step it up we had to write another song but change the settings. I changed the octaves and things like that. For the octave it was originally one octave but I changed it too 3. After righting sun on this I tried to make the music Mary had a little lamb.

 I have made this sound. I wanted to like make it a bit like summer so it might not sound so good because for the sound I wrote summer.

Symmetry Step it up

 

I have made symmetrical art. I used some felts that I found in my pencil case. I decided to make a butterfly.

For this activity I started of by playing a game called sea floor symmetry.

Then my task was to create a photo collage with symmetry lines.

Spinning water

 Today we did another nanogirl activity. Today's activity was learning about gravity. I first did the one where the glass manages to hold the card board take a look.

After that I did the spinning water one. I have done this twice before. Each time successful but....

Step it up

 I got inspired because this is what summer is for me there are those beautiful flowers, the heat, the sunburn, the ice cream and the fruit.

Summer Collage

 I decided not to make my collage in a table because I wanted mine to have a bit of overlapping. I chose these images because to me they all relate to summer. The hat because you should wear one in the summer, the flowers because you see the prettiest flowers in the summer. The sea because the heat drags everyone there, the sunglasses protect your eyes in the summer and other seasons but mostly summer. 

My special place step it up

 For this activity we had to make a video about our special place. The video is on the last slide.

 I decided that my special summer place will be my tree house/platform. This was because I don't really have a special summer place. We sometimes go to Rapahoe but that is not every summer so I decided to just stick with my tree house.

So I put both boats in the water at the same time. They were both holding 5 stones when the square based boat sank.  A short time later the canoe sank.

Podcast

 For the step it up we had to chose a topic of books that I enjoyed. I didn't know how I was going to do this activity because I didn't have that many books around the same topic. I then remembered the box of old fairy tales and nursery rhymes so I had a look at that and so that is what my topic was.

Here is my reflection

When I was younger I remember my father reading me all these different books. This included fairy tales. Now a days if I am reading fairy tales it will probably be for kids lit.

Sound

For this activity we were learning about sound. I first started with the kick start then I moved onto the step it up.

String fun

 

Today I made the cup and saucer with string. 2 years ago this was very popular and everybody was carrying around a piece of string. I haven't done this for a while so I had a quick look at the video for a refresher. I thought this was a fun activity.

Today we did another Nanogirl activity. We made a sundial. Here is the finished project

I also added  throughout the day what time it was when the sun castes the shadow there.

Which face is real?

 

For the SLJ on Friday we had to have a look on a site which shows one computer made person and one real person. You have to see if you can guess the real person although there are clues that might lead you in the right direction. I did pretty good when I was trying to work out which was which. I did a few more than 10 so I lost count of how many I got right. If you want to try press here for the link. Happy New year

For this activity we had to make a poster saying happy new year in 5 different languages. I technically did 6 because English is a language.

My whanau all know how to say happy new year in German.

For the step it up a did a video on me saying happy new year in 10 languages. I wasn't sure how many I had done and ended up doing 13. Hope you enjoy and learn something.

My Fruit art

 Today for the SLJ I did some fruit art. I was inspired by the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. I found these 3 facts about him.

1)  Arcimboldo took nature seriously.

2)  Despite the royal acclaim his fame faded.

3)  Today he is beloved around the world.

My art work is made up of all these different fruits and vegetables I have drawn. The neck is an eggplant, the mouth is a banana, the nose is a pear, the cheeks are apples, the eyes are strawberrys, the ears are cucumbers, the hair is a brown onion and all this is on a plate with a knife and fork on either side.

I then also did the step it up which was make an art wrk of fruit on a google draw and screen castify talkiing about it.

Maths - Camping site

I thought this was a fun activity being the first maths activity so far. I wasn't exactly sure what the last page was for and I am not sure if I have done it right.  Hopefully I have. I have also done the step it up.

I am literally a week behind on activities. Very sorry just have been a bit busy.

For this activity we had to make a photo collage of foods that we eat in the summer. We had to talk about at least 3 of the foods that we chose.

I also did the step it up. I had to do the same just describe the food mentioning the senses.
